Perform applied research and technology development in wireless systems and networks, focusing on phenomenology and techniques at the radio physical and link layer.
Specific responsibilities will include, but will not be limited to:
Designing, analyzing, modeling, and simulating signal processing algorithms for wireless system applications, including communications, signals collection, RF geolocation and electronic attack
Implementing, debugging and testing system prototypes on third-party software-defined radio (SDR) platforms
Performing analysis, modeling and simulation of RF systems to predict performance, develop system and subsystem design tradeoff studies, and investigate interactions between RF-dependent systems
Writing design documents, simulation reports, and scientific papers
Participating in technical business development activities, including meeting with prospective customers, developing technical concept studies, and contributing to new business proposals.
US citizenship preferred but may consider Permanent Residents Willingness to apply for a security clearance also required! (Citizenship & security clearance requirements are due to requirements stipulated by federal government contracts.)
Masters degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or related field. (Ph.D. preferred)
Established track record of research in wireless systems, particularly for signal processing and other radio physical and link layer topics
Expertise with algorithm and system modeling and simulation tools (especially Matlab and/or Simulink)
Demonstrated ability to conduct research and work cooperatively with other team members
Demonstrated SDR implementation skills (real-time DSP and GPP coding and/or FPGA design), and experience in prototype development
Working knowledge of current technology standards for local- and wide-area wireless systems (LTE, WiFi, etc.).
Knowledge of radar systems and signal processing
Knowledge and experience in network simulation
Experience in implementing software in a Linux/UNIX environment
Active security clearance
My client has a long tradition of innovation and creating novel technologies stemming from its origins (Bell Labs). E-mail attachments, DSL, SONET are some of the technologies the organization has created over the years as well as the first ever voice over packet call (IP wasn’t invented yet). Today this company is doing research through funding mostly by government research agencies (DARPA, ARL, AFRL, and others) creating the future technologies. They mostly build prototypes and proof of concepts through agile development (not traditionally structured development processes).People need to be flexible, willing to work on different technologies, learn, and very strong technically (teams are small so everybody can tell how much everybody else is contributing).
