Their research and engineering protects mission-critical systems and a broad range of initiatives in computer network defense, electronic warfare, secure-by-design techniques, and cyber operations and experimentation platforms. Your expertise and areas of interest may be applied on one or more programs, providing you new opportunities to learn and grow.

In this position you will work with an experienced multi-disciplinary team to develop next generation motion control solutions for military applications.

Your role will be to design, implement, and test the hardware and software components of these motion control solutions. Specifically, you will:
” Perform control system analysis by developing plant models, selecting control algorithms, implementing simulations of control loops, and optimizing system response.
” Perform kinematic / inverse kinematic and mechanism motion profile analysis to support mechanical system design.
” Select and integrate COTS control system components including motors, actuators, motor controllers, power system components, embedded computing hardware, and real time networks / busses.
” Integrate real-time computer vision solutions into the control architecture for performance and safety verification.
” Implement real time control algorithms and system supervisor software in C++.
” Implement system operator user interfaces in C++ and Qt.
” Support product assembly and test in a laboratory environment.
” Support product field testing by travelling at least twice a year for 2 weeks at a time.

Qualifications
Education/Experience:
” Degree in Physics, Electrical Engineering, or Computer Science
” 8-10 years with BS
” 6-8 years with MS
” 3-5 years with PhD
Required Skills:
” Ability to design, simulate, and optimize control systems
” Ability to implement real time control algorithms using C++
” Software user interface development using C++ and Qt
” Motor and motor control driver selection experience
” Robotic system analysis experience / kinematics / mechanism design experience
” Ability to solve problems independently
” Ability to work well with a group
” Excellent written and oral communication skills.
” U.S. Citizenship Required
