The candidate will be responsible for designing and developing major enhancements to Software Defined Radio (SDR) frameworks. A core understanding of real-time signal processing implementation methodologies and currently available open source SDR frameworks such as GNU Radio is desirable.
Familiarity with wireless standards and their implementation in SDR frameworks is desirable. You will work in teams to research concepts and develop cutting edge solutions to complex problems. You will also be required to communicate the results of research through open source community presentations and publications. Must work well collaboratively and individually. In this position, candidates will be developing radio solutions to help solve complex problems. Main responsibilities include:
Creating, enhancing, and maintaining the software components of SDR frameworks
Implementing and integrating hardware accelerated (GPU/FPGA) signal processing blocks to interface into SDR frameworks
Writing design documents, benchmarking reports, and system documentation.
Note from the hiring manager:
I’m more interested in folks that will be programming existing SDRs rather than designing them. So I’d steer further away from radio design engineers and more towards software developers (C/C++/Python) whom have RF experience, preferably with programming SDRs such at Ettus USRPs, Epiq Solutions devices, etc.
Requires 3 to 5 years with BS/BA or 1 to 2 years with MS/MA
Experience in developing SDR solutions
Knowledge of GPU programming (OpenCL or CUDA)
Knowledge of embedded software development
Familiarity of open source development practices
BS/BA, MS/MA, Ph.D. or equivalent experience in Computer Science, or Electrical and Computer Engineering
Strong written and spoken communications/presentation skills
U.S. Citizen required with ability to obtain clearance
