A specialized technology research and development organization, focused on delivering mission-critical technological systems for global security, is seeking a talented and disciplined individual. This role involves integrating with a highly motivated, cross-functional team of Electrical Engineers, Applied Mathematicians, and Computer Scientists to engineer bespoke digital signal manipulation and secure communication solutions.
Core System Development Responsibilities
The successful applicant will work within small, agile project teams under general direction to develop and sustain next-generation software-defined capabilities for complex data transfer systems. Key activities encompass the full system lifecycle: Conception, Analysis, Design, Implementation, Testing, Deployment, and Maintenance.
Implementation Focus: Specific tasks include developing specialized numerical methods (algorithm development), interfacing with custom hardware components, crafting user interfaces (GUI design), and managing data persistence layers (database development).
Quality and Discipline: Maintaining professional, organized work habits is essential, resulting in deliverables that are well-structured, fully documented, and thoroughly validated.
Stakeholder Engagement: This role involves direct collaboration and interaction with technical end-users and sponsoring agencies.
Essential Requirements and Qualifications
Eucation Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Applied Mathematics, or a comparable technical field.
Clearance Active TS/SSBI/SCI U.S. government security clearance is mandatory.
Programming Demonstrated proficiency in high-level scientific coding (e.g., C/C++) within a Unix/Linux environment.
Core Expertise Strong theoretical and practical foundation in Digital Signal Processing (DSP) or Communication Systems Theory.
Highly Desired Skills and Background
Advanced Education: Master’s or PhD degree in Electrical Engineering, Applied Mathematics, or an equivalent technical discipline.
Experience Level: 5+ years of practical experience in deploying and developing complete systems.
Modeling Tools: Experience with high-level technical computing environments (e.g., MATLAB) or specialized analytical software.
Relevant Technical Domains (Experience in any of the following is beneficial)
Remote Sensing/Imaging: Theoretical understanding, practical applications, or modeling experience related to light-based detection and ranging (LIDAR).
Communications: Orbital communication platforms (Satellite communications), mobile ground networks (Cellular communications systems), or general modern wireless protocols.
RF Systems: Radio Frequency system architecture and design.
Information Warfare: Electronic attack and defense techniques (Electronic Warfare).
Signal Analysis: Advanced digital coding theory, signal geolocation, refinement of sensor data (Signal conditioning), and suppression of unwanted signals (Interference canceling).
Mathematics: Development of numerical methods and algorithms.
