A dynamic engineering team in Somerville is seeking a Senior Digital Systems Architect to lead the design and validation of ruggedized embedded electronics for mission-critical applications. This role involves architecting high-reliability digital hardware platforms, including processor and FPGA-based systems, low-power modules, and advanced integration techniques.
As a senior contributor, you’ll collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to shape digital architectures, drive development cycles, and ensure robust performance in demanding environments. You’ll play a key role in delivering agile, field-ready microelectronic solutions that support national defense and advanced technology initiatives.
This position supports a fast-paced, long-standing program with a track record of technical excellence and innovation.

Key Responsibilities
– Convert system-level requirements into scalable digital hardware architectures
– Lead the design and integration of embedded platforms with microprocessors, analog interfaces, and power subsystems
– Prototype, debug, and validate hardware designs; prepare documentation for production and lifecycle support
– Apply simulation tools to refine performance and guide design decisions
– Collaborate across disciplines to deliver cost-effective, reliable solutions
– Navigate evolving requirements and propose actionable engineering paths
– Identify and mitigate technical risks at the system level
– Mentor junior engineers and contribute to team-wide technical growth
– Communicate progress and technical insights to leadership and stakeholders
– Support proposal development and strategic planning for future initiatives

Required Skills & Expertise
– Strong foundation in digital electronics, embedded computing, and microprocessor-based systems
– Deep understanding of computer architecture and system-level design principles
– Skilled in schematic capture and PCB layout workflows
– Experience with embedded system integration and debugging
– Proficient in circuit simulation using tools such as HyperLynx and ANSYS
– Familiarity with Mentor Graphics PCB design flow
– Experience with FPGA/SOC development using Xilinx or Microchip platforms
– Strong coding and programming capabilities
– Excellent communication, documentation, and collaboration skills
– Analytical mindset with strong mathematical and problem-solving abilities
– Proven ability to manage time, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines

Qualifications
– Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Electronic Engineering (Master’s preferred)
– 5–7 years of experience in digital hardware design or embedded systems engineering
– Must be eligible for U.S. government Secret clearance
