A high-impact engineering team is seeking a senior-level FPGA specialist to lead the design and development of embedded digital systems. This role focuses on architecting, simulating, and validating FPGA-based solutions for advanced applications in signal processing, secure computing, and real-time control.
Role Summary
As a principal contributor, you’ll drive technical execution across the full lifecycle of FPGA development—from concept through deployment. You’ll collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, mentor junior engineers, and help shape the future of embedded digital platforms.
Key Responsibilities
Architecture & Design
– Translate system-level requirements into robust hardware architectures
– Design and implement digital subsystems including microprocessor cores, analog interfaces, and power management blocks
– Optimize designs for performance, power, and footprint in constrained environments
Simulation & Validation
– Conduct functional and timing simulations using industry-standard tools
– Guide physical implementation including floor-planning and parasitic-aware modeling
– Lead lab-based debugging and prototype validation
Leadership & Collaboration
– Mentor team members and document best practices for scalable design workflows
– Coordinate across engineering disciplines and communicate progress to stakeholders
– Contribute to technical strategy and proposal development for new initiatives
Specialized Focus Areas
– Embedded FPGA design for SoC platforms
– Implementation of signal/image processing algorithms in hardware
– Familiarity with secure hardware architectures and cryptographic primitives
Required Skills
– Proficiency in Verilog or VHDL
– Experience with FPGA toolchains such as Xilinx Vivado or Microsemi Libero
– Simulation expertise using Modelsim or Questa
– Deep understanding of timing closure, power optimization, and area constraints
– Familiarity with high-speed interfaces (SERDES, PCIe, DDR2/3/4, LVDS)
– Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
– Scripting experience (e.g., Python, Tcl)
– Excellent communication and collaboration skills
– Experience with Matlab/Simulink and UVM testbench development
Qualifications
Education
– Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Electronic Engineering required
– Master’s degree preferred
Experience
– 7–10 years of experience in FPGA design and embedded systems engineering
Security Requirement
– Must be a U.S. citizen and capable of obtaining and maintaining a government security clearance
